Music Students to Perform with Top Jazz Orchestra
Instrumental Performance and Composition majors selected for 2014 Mid-Atlantic Jazz Orchestra

Instrumental Performance majors Nick Lombardelli '15 (Trombone), Sam Greenfield '14 (Saxophone), Jake Manny '14 (Trumpet) and Kenny Mesmer '14 (Trumpet) [pictured above left to right] have been selected for the 2014 Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Jazz Orchestra (MACJO), recognized as the premier orchestra for the East Coast's finest college jazz musicians. Mesmer and Lombardelli will play lead trumpet and trombone, respectively.
Alternate musicians include Chris Welte '14 (Saxophone), Evan Kilgore '15 (Saxophone) and Frank Rein '16 (Composition).
All selected UArts students are members of the "Z" Big Band, directed by Assistant Professor and alumnus Matt Gallagher MM '01 (Jazz Studies).
Student musicians are chosen from colleges throughout the Mid-Atlantic states to perform in this prestigious honors ensemble, now in its sixth year.
Mesmer, Manny, Lombardelli and Greenfield will perform with the MACJO orchestra on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at the Bethesda (Md.) Blues & Jazz Supper Club and at the Crown Ballroom as part of Downtown Cumberland's Weekend of Jazz, April 4 – 5, 2014. This year's group will be led by internationally renowned saxophonist and clinician Chris Vadala.
