School of Dance Partners with Chez Bushwick for Field Study Exchange Program
UArts and Brooklyn-based non-profit to present 2-night performance of student/alumni choreography November 21-22
Updated October 18, 2013
The School of Dance at the University of the Arts has partnered with non-profit contemporary dance organization Chez Bushwick as part of a field study exchange program for UArts students and alumni to present their choreography in a two-night performance series hosted at the Center for Performance Research on November 21 and 22.
Alumni selected for the field study are 2013 Dance graduates Katrina Atkin, Ann Marie Gover, Marc Crousillat, Amanda Kmett'Pendry and Chelsea Palombaro. Selected students include Brendan Hogg '14 (Dance), Kelsey Ludwig '14 (Dance) and Arielle Pina '13 (Dance), who will graduate this December.
Under the guidance of UArts School of Dance faculty Meredith Glisson and Sara Procopio, this student- and alumni-focused field study offers young artists the opportunity to present, produce and perform their own choreographic works while providing professional mentorship, cultural exchange and the experience of showcasing their work in a venue offering proximity to an international network of performing artists and presenters.
In addition, alumni choreographers will be afforded 20 hours of rehearsal space at Chez Bushwick’s Brooklyn studios.
To be considered for this field study, students and alumni had to submit a complete proposal, including artist statement, resume and work sample. Submissions for the first selection of UArts alumni were reviewed and selected by an outside professional panel.
