School of Music Sophomore Named Student Employee of the Year

Work study student Junhee Kim '15 (Instrumental Performance) was named the 2013 Student Employee of the Year at an awards luncheon held April 10 during the 6th Annual Student Employee Appreciation Week.
Kim, who for the last two years has served as an international student ambassador, was nominated by International Student Programs Director Mara Flamm and chosen from among 12 nominees.
The nominated work study students, their supervisors and invited guests attended the luncheon, where UArts President Sean T. Buffington and Dr. Alan Leffers, vice president for Enrollment, Retention & Student Affairs, spoke. Student Employment Coordinator Debi Leonard announced the award recipients, which included Honorable Mention winner Robert Smith '13 (Directing, Playwriting & Production), an assistant in the Office of the President.
Kim received a $100 gift card, a commemorative clock trophy and a one-year membership to 12th Street Gym, one of the program's most committed sponsors. Smith received a $50 gift card and a three-month gym membership.
All nominees received certificates and prizes donated by sponsors from along the Avenue of the Arts, including the Kimmel Center, Utrecht, Blick Art Materials, Giorgio's on Pine, Sumo Sushi, the Philadelphia Theater Company, the Wilma Theater, Paolo's Pizza, Starbucks, the UArts School Store and Last Drop Coffee Shop, as well as the offices of Student Affairs, Student Life, Technology & Information Services and the Advising Center.
