April 16, 2013
Work by Je Seok Koo '13 (Multimedia) is featured at the 2013 Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA), taking place through April 27.
Koo was hired to program one of the three installations for PIFA's interactive Time Machine, currently on view at the Kimmel Center's Time Travel Plaza. The installation, built using Processing and Microsoft Kinect, allows users to move a virtual timeline and experience historical events using their hands.
Koo's work combines design, music, programming and technology into interactive objects and installations.
PIFA is a month-long, city-wide arts festival produced by the Kimmel Center that celebrates innovation, collaboration and creativity with over 50 arts and cultural organizations presenting multidisciplinary artistic interpretations of new works, classical performances and exhibits. The 2013 thematic focus, "If You Had a Time Machine…," takes audiences on a journey through time to experience the convergence of art, culture and history in artistic interpretations of great defining moments that continue to influence society today.
