Multimedia Alum Turns Love of Brisket into BBQ Empire

BrisketLab and BrisketTown creator Dan Delaney BFA '08 to open outpost on NYC's High Line

Dan Delaney BFA '08 (Multimedia), the UArts alumnus behind the hugely successful BrisketLab BBQ series and the Brooklyn-based BrisketTown restaurant, will open a Manhattan location on the High Line in Chelsea.

The outpost, called SmokeLine, will open on April 18 and feature Central Texas-style barbecue sandwiches, an extensive pie program and a made-to-order soda bar.

The tech-savvy entrepreneur and gourmand got his start as host of "VendrTV," a web-based series highlighting food carts and locales all across the country.

That venture took him to Texas, where he fell in love with its unique smoked brisket. So much so that he drove back to New York with an eight-foot long professional wood-fired smoker.

Last summer, he launched BrisketLab, a sold-out BBQ recipe development series that took place at various pop-up locations throughout New York City. The lab gained national attention and culminated in the opening of BrisketTown, Delaney Barbecue’s first bricks and mortar location located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
