Alumni Hosts Needed for 2013 UArts Summer Fellows

Summer internship program designed to provide our best students with access to the phenomenal alumni that are part of the UArts family

February 1, 2013

The UArts Summer Fellows program is designed to provide our best students with access to the phenomenal alumni that are part of the UArts family. Students selected to be UArts Summer Fellows demonstrate their classroom skills in the working world. The University of the Arts provides Summer Fellows with a stipend and alumni hosts provide a summer internship that can be one to eight weeks in duration.

Diane Meck '13 (Dance), far left, was hosted by Geoff Kershner BFA '00 (Theater) for a summer internship at Endstation Theatre Company.

Students who participated in the pilot year of UArts Summer Fellows shared the following feedback:

Summer Fellows 2012 blog >>

"Michele has taken me to different levels of thinking and I'm excited to put it to use this fall!"
- Kaylyn Gray ’13 (Multimedia) speaking about her experience with alumni host Michele Kishita BFA ’97 (Painting), MFA ’10 (Painting).

"Knowing these places and how they work put together the entire commission for me. By seeing the actual facilities and meeting the people helping with the commission, I now have a better understanding of the entire process. I am also very grateful in knowing these places and people for projects I will make in the future."
- Ryan Berardi ’14 (Sculpture) on visiting a Philadelphia foundry while working with alumni host Anthony Visco BFA ’70 (Sculpture).
