Winter Break/January Building Hours
Academic buildings close at 10 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012, and will be fully closed through Tuesday, January 1, 2013. The University re-opens on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, with limited building hours. The University will be closed for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 21, 2013. All normal building hours will resume on the first day of the Spring Semester on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. Full schedule >>

Art Unleashed 2013: April 10 - 13
Save the date for Art Unleashed 2013, taking place April 10 - 13 in Hamilton Hall. The University's largest fundraiser, Art Unleashed helps raise money to support the Sam S. McKeel Promising Young Artists Scholarship Fund with an exhibition and sale of artwork from talented students, faculty and alumni. A preview party is set for April 10, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m.; the public sale and exhibition runs April 11-13 from noon to 5 p.m. More info >>

Design and Technology Student Portfolio Presentation
The University community is invited to the Ira Brind School of Theater Arts' Design and Technology Student Portfolio Presentation on Monday, December 10. Work will be on display from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Caplan Studio Theater on the 16th floor of Terra Hall. Stop by for a look at the DT students' work. Snacks and soda will be provided.

Alumna/Staffer Featured in 'Philadelphia Inquirer'
OTIS staff member Mira Sophia Adornetto BFA '00 (Printmaking/Book Arts), co-founder of the Philly Seed Exchange, was featured in the December 7 issue of The Philadelphia Inquirer. The story highlights the "unusual enterprise, which offers local, naturally pollinated, heirloom vegetable seeds and some flowers to other gardeners for free." Read the article >>

Students, Staff Volunteer at Annual Clean-Up Day
On Saturday, December 1, UArts students and staff volunteered as part of the Washington Square West Civic Association’s annual clean-up day. Aaron Bell ’16 (Musical Theater), Cody Freeman, Arthur Harris-Eze ’16 (CAMD), Kelsey Holley ’15 (Dance), Bianca Lott ’16 (Animation), Joi McNeil ’16 (Music Business, Entrepreneurship & Technology), Beto Santana, Nijel Taylor ’14 (Graphic Design), Jamie Weinberg ’16 (Illustration), Alexis Williams ’15 (Writing for Film/Television), Lucy Wood ’16 (Vocal Performance) and Kristie Wuttke ’16 (CAMD) gave up a few hours of their Saturday – during finals – to sweep streets and rake leaves. The project, organized by Student Life Coordinator Casey Sharkey, was also attended by Student Life Director Kathleen Embleton, Student Conduct Coordinator Sara Kupferer, Residence Life Coordinator Bridget Irelan and Dean of Students Greg Nayor.

Digication Training for UArts Staff
Sponsored by Staff Council and the Digication Committee. Digication is a course management and e-portfolio system that will replace Sakai in fall 2013. In addition to its use by faculty in managing class materials and assignment submissions, it can be used to manage groups, share resources, post announcements, or as an embedded page on the UArts Portal. All At Once: MFA in Studio Art Thesis Exhibition 2012

Fourteen MFA in Studio Art graduate students will be featured in the 2012 thesis exhibition "All At Once," which will run in galleries in Hamilton, Anderson and Gershman halls, as well as at Crane Arts. The show will include work that spans painting, sculpture, installation, interactive electronic media, video and performance by artists hailing from across the U.S., the Middle East, Asia and Africa. The MFA Book Arts/Printmaking department welcomes visiting artists Georgia Deal and Graham Watson MFA '07 (Book Arts/Printmaking). Georgia Deal, head of the Printmaking department and a professor at Corcoran College of Art and Design, is a printmaker, book artist and papermaker whose work is included in numerous national and international collections. Graham Watson is a book artist and photographer who draws inspiration from the natural sciences, music and design. More info >>
