Video Project Takes Faculty Member to Duke for Lecture, NY for DVD Release
Foundation Assistant Professor Kristine Marx's entrancing video accompanies song by flute and percussion duo Due East
November 14, 2011
Foundation Assistant Professor Kristine Marx spoke about her work to Duke University's art and music departments on November 3. The lecture was held in conjunction with the upcoming DVD release of a video/music collaboration with composer John Supko and flute and percussion duo Due East.
Marx's entrancing video accompanies Supko's composition, "Littoral," with rapidly shifting geometric forms superimposed over transient oceanic landscapes. The multimedia work is included on Due East's New Amsterdam Records album, "drawn only once."
New Amsterdam will host an album/DVD release show on November 21 at Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn, N.Y., featuring a mulitmedia performance of Marx's video and Due East at 8 p.m.
