N.Y. Solo Shows by Sculpture Alumnus Receive Critical Praise
July 20, 2011
International contemporary artist and alumnus Sean Landers BFA '84 (Sculpture) received critical praise for his two New York solo shows "Around the World Alone" (a retrospective of work from the mid-90s not previously shown in New York) and "Midnight Modern Conversation" (a show of new work) in The New York Times, Time Out New York, Artforum and The Huffington Post.
A Q&A with the artist appeared in Art in America, who called Landers "the leading proponent of 'slacker art,' the practitioners of which use confession and metaphors for misery to both self-lacerate and critique the easy pathos of popular entertainment."
Landers has had over 25 solo exhibits of his work at galleries around the world.
