UArts Alumni, Faculty, Staff Featured in Rotating Repertory

February 9, 2011

Round Table Theatre Company, founded by University of the Arts alumni Daniel O'Neil '10 (Theatre), Sean Bradley '09 (Theatre), Michael Doherty '10 (Theater), Clare O'Malley '10 (Theatre) and Jessica Reed '09 (Theatre), presents "Winners" and Afterplay" by Irish playwright Brian Friel in rotating repertory.
O'Neil, who also works as a counselor in the University's Office of Admission, serves as producer on both plays and director for "Afterplay."

Directed by Theater Arts Senior Lecturer Amy Dugas Brown and starring fellow alum and Admissions staffer Danielle Adams '06 (Theater) along with actor Ryan Walter and Round Table co-founders O'Malley and Bradley (pictured above), "Winners" tells the story of a pair of teenage lovers, Joe and Mag, who are expecting a baby out of wedlock. The play finds the two students in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, in 1966, on a hillside studying for their end of school exams.

In "Afterplay" – featuring Theater Arts Senior Lecturer D'Arcy Webb and actor Steve Gleich – Friel uses two of Anton Chekhov's characters, Sonya Serebriakova from "Uncle Vanya" and Andrey Prozorov from "The Three Sisters." The two meet in a cafe in Moscow, 20 or so years after Chekhov has left them.
University of the Arts alumni also round out the production team for both plays, including Lighting Designer Christopher Frey '10 (Theatre) and Round Table co-founder Reed, who is the Costume & Sound Designer; Aaron Hochhalter serves as Stage Manager.
