Media for Museum Communication

A laboratory/workshop course focused on the utilization of appropriate media to communicate the exhibition method, with an emphasis on the creation of visitor interaction with exhibitions. Specialized traditional media are explored, and the student is introduced to the issues, skills, and practices related to the design and production of electronic media and mechanisms for museum communications. The student is introduced to contemporary electronics technology, including videodisc, hypermedia control and production languages, alternative techniques for visitor/computer interaction, and contemporary audio-visual production. The course also addresses the choice of appropriate technology and the directions that may emerge in the future.
