Fibers Teaching Philosophy
The Fibers Program provides students with
a unique multi-media experience grounded in fabric processes and materials as a means
of personal expression. Introductory studio courses offer a strong foundation in on- and
off-loom structures, screen-printing, dye technique and more. The Fibers curriculum
is designed to initially personal exploration, experimentation and invention.
As the student moves through the curriculum, emphasis on the study of materials and processes shifts to studio problems which concentrate on conceptual issues and challenge the student’s personal expressive potential. Guidance in the direction of each student’s work is offered through intensive group critical dialogue and individual evaluation with Fibers faculty.
