Angela Bacon-Kidwell: Traces of Existence
Sep 21—Oct 26 2012
Sol Mednick Gallery
Working with numerous layers of hand-painted photographs, drawings and resin to create a single image, Angela Bacon-Kidwell's final results reveal a complex layering process in which the image is printed and rephotographed under various conditions in one final effort to heal the wounds that bind her own existence. In 2010, she was commissioned to photograph the city of Yangzhou, China. Her experience there led her to produce her most recent body of work "Traces of Existence" that explores the complex relationship between the fragility of life and finality of death.
