Passport to World Cinema Series: Stories We Tell

Presented by the School of Film and the Philadelphia Film Society, the "Passport to World Cinema" monthly film series features the past year's strongest cinema from around the globe.

This month features "Stories We Tell" by Canadian actress turned director Sarah Polley ("Away From Her," "Take This Waltz"), who returns with a documentary that examines the deep-seated secrets that run through her family.

Presenter Bio
Professor and Chair of Film and Media Studies at Swarthmore College, Patricia White teaches film, cultural studies, critical theory, and gender and sexuality studies. She is the author of Uninvited: Classical Hollywood Cinema and Lesbian Representability (Indiana University Press, 1999), and with Timothy Corrigan, co-author of The Film Experience (Bedford St. Martins, 2004, 2009) and co-editor of Critical Voices in Film Theory (Bedford St. Martin's, 2010). She is president of the board of Women Make Movies and a member of the Camera Obscura editorial collective. Her current book project is on 21st century global women filmmakers.

Screenings are $5 for the general public and free to both University of the Arts ID holders and Philadelphia Film Society members.
