MFA Book Arts/Printmaking 2013 Thesis Exhibit I
Apr 16—Apr 26 2013
Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery
Exhibit features thesis work by graduating MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking students Sarah Hulsey, Erin Paulson and Karen Hardy.
Sarah Hulsey's work explores multiple modes of mapping, from the analytical to the evocative, with color charts and stitched diagrams that encode language. Erin Paulson grapples with humanity’s smallness in the vastness of the cosmos through animated pressure prints of embroidered panels. Karen Hardy explores the expressive potential of translucent handmade paper in two-dimensional and sculptural works.
Closing Reception: April 26, 5:30 - 8 p.m.
"This group of Book Arts and Printmaking students employ a surprisingly wide range of approaches, from sculpture to video; textiles to social practice; and etching to street art. The connective tissue in this exhibition is their rigorous exploration of the expressive potential of materials. It offers an exciting glimpse into the future of Book Arts."
