Visiting Artist Lecture: Florence Doleac
Oct 4 2012 1:00PM - 2:30PM
Terra Hall, Rom 511
The Industrial Design and Sculpture programs are pleased to announce a lecture by French artist/designer Florence Doléac. Her work is currently featured in a three-person exhibition "The Way Things Are: Ulla von Brandenburg, Florence Doléac, Virgil Marti" at Locks Gallery, which runs through October 27. The show addresses the idea that the objects around us have connotations that come from the history of decorative arts and design, but are also interwoven with the personal stories of their owners.
Doléac co-founded the influential Paris-based group Radi Designers in 1993, before embracing a solo career as an artist, 10 years later. She has had numerous exhibitions in Europe, including at Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and mudac in Lausanne, Switzerland. This is her first exhibition in the United States.
