Jennifer Long: Collections
Sep 21—Oct 26 2012
Gallery 1401
Investigating vulnerability, perceived ideals and communication within the context of interpersonal relationships is the focus of Toronto-based artist Jennifer Long. Inspired by a wide array of references such as feminism, portraiture, the Victorian era and personal experience, Long creates constructed narratives that explore the emotions and quiet moments of everyday life. Touch, gesture, gaze, community, mothering and artifact all play significant roles. Portraiture is always a component within her series, whether her strategies involve depicting small details such as strands of hair or historically inspired silhouettes.
