Alumni from the University of the Arts are participating in the following events at DesignPhiladelphia 2011, the city-wide celebration of all things design taking place October 13 - 23:
Biello Martin Studio – Open House

Biello Martin Studio, the creative sanctuary of Interdisciplinary artist Michael Biello BFA ’73 (Crafts) and composer Dan Martin, officially welcomes architectural interior designer Carlo Fiammenghi to the company as it expands its work to include the design of residential and commercial interiors as well as custom furniture design. Open house, light refreshments, special installations and surprise performances. Free and open to the public. Wheelchair accessible.

If nature were allowed to reclaim the land in the city it would grow out of the refuse of man. Our waste would be incorporated into its new life. What Andy and Andy are illustrating in “Renewed Urban Studio Tent” is an example of recycling the materials found in the city into a new structure building on the contaminated urban soil. Andy and Andy will be giving a presentation on the history of environmental art, their reasons for building “RUST” and display of a detailed model of their project. Light breakfast will be served. Free and open to the public. Wheelchair accessible.

Award-winning environmental graphic design firm Cloud Gehshan Associates undertakes projects in identity and placebranding, interpretive and interactive communication, signage and wayfinding. Principals Virginia Gehshan and Jerome Cloud BFA ’78 (Graphic Design) were the Society for Environmental Graphic Design’s 2010 Fellows. CGA invites you to tour their studio in Old City. Get acquainted with environmental graphic design, see works on the boards and meet the designers. Refreshments will be served. Free and open to the public.
Making It: Alumni ’01 – ’11 Works Reception
