Drawing First + Last: Drawing as Primary Practice
Aug 24—Sep 18 2015
Hamilton & Arronson Galleries
The University of the Arts presents “Drawing First + Last: Drawing as Primary Practice,” featuring Professor Emeritus Michael Rossman, Interdisciplinary Fine Arts Senior Lecturer Christopher Davison, Graphic Design Adjunct Professor and alumna Christine Hiebert BFA '84 (Graphic Design), Animation Assistant Professor Christopher Magee, Rob Matthews, Michelle Oosterbaan, Cindy Stockton Moore and Dennis Will.
A common thread of drawing as principal or primary practice links the group of artists, who otherwise explore the dynamic range of applications that define contemporary drawing. In discreet or combined media, from dry to aqueous, the assembled works fall within a gradient scale of narrative to non-objective, with artists employing generative methods extending from observational to process-based.
Selected works include site-specific wall drawings, large and small works on paper, animations, and storyboads. The exhibit is curated by Mark Campbell, dean of the College of Art, Media + Design.
Closing Reception: September 17, 5 – 7 p.m.
