Visiting Writers Series: David Simon

Levitt Auditorium

The Visiting Writers Series is sponsored by the Creative Writing program and features acclaimed contemporary writers who will visit campus each year. These distinguished poets, novelists, short story writers and screenwriters will give readings – all of which are free and open to the public – and meet with students in the Creative Writing major to discuss issues of craft and the writing life.

This reading features David Simon, a Baltimore-based journalist, author and television producer. A former crime reporter for the Baltimore Sun, he is the creator of the celebrated HBO series “The Wire,” which depicts the social fissures in an American city. His other credits include the NBC drama “Homicide” and HBO’s “The Corner” and “Generation Kill.” His most recent project, “Treme,” is a drama about post-Katrina New Orleans.

This event is co-sponsored by the School of Film and the College of Art, Media & Design; the College of Performing Arts; the Office of the Provost; and the Office of the President.
