On the Precipice: Matthew Courtney '84

Cerulean Arts Gallery

Ceramic sculptures by CAMD Senior Lecturer and alumnus Matthew Courtney BS ’84 (Industrial Design) are on display along with acrylic and digital media works by Nic Coviello. Interested in the connection between art and play, Courtney’s sculptures and installations straddle the line between opposing drives: adult/child, serious/non-serious. He experiments with and distorts imagery from childhood and adult experiences, with an aim to generate engaging yet unforeseen content.

Opening Reception: May 30, 5 – 8 p.m.
Artist Talk: June 8, 2 p.m.

Above: “Bird Song of Walt Whitman,” maquette for PATCO station proposal, clay glaze and wood, 6’ x 16” x 14”.
