Artists of a Certain Age

Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral

Baby Bunting David Kettner
"Baby Bunting" by Professor Emeritus David Kettner, paper collage on foam core, 2013, 20" x 16".

Co-sponsored by the University of the Arts, this exhibition is associated with the "Inventory and Oral History Project" of the Senior Artists Initiative, featuring former and current UArts faculty members Thomas Porett, Tony Rosati, Francis Tucker, Peter Rose, David Kettner and Mary Phelan.

“Artists of a Certain Age” features 14 artists who continue to be productive. Their work reflects their more recent efforts, encompassing a broad range of media including painting, sculpture, printmaking, collage and photography. All participants have been or continue to be significant contributors to the regional art community and many have been awarded or recognized nationally. Most of these artists have been educators, influencing generations of younger artists.

UArts, Drexel University, the James A. Michener Art Museum and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts sponsored these artists in the "Inventory and Oral History Project" during 2011, 2012 and 2013, and without them, this exhibit would not be possible.

Senior Artists Initiative is a nonprofit organization that assists artists in understanding the need for and process involved in organizing their life’s work. It educates artists about the process of documenting and inventorying their work and legal issues pertaining to their art, estates and rights. Its "Inventory and Oral History Project" produces video interviews of established artists for online viewing.
