Lecture: Dr. Virginia Vitkiene

Dr. Virginia Vitkiene will present "Lithuanian Crafts as an Expanded Field: Challenging Stereotypes," being held in conjunction with "Guest Artists – Lithuania" at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, November 7 – 10.

This lecture is co-sponsored by the Lithuanian International Cultural Programme Centre and the UArts Craft & Material Studies program, and is free and open to the public.

Virginia Vitkiene is an art critic, editor and curator, and is director of the Arts Centre at Vytautas Magnus University and artistic director of the Kaunas Biennial international textile exhibition. Her lecture will offer an overview of current trends in Lithuanian craft and design, and provide a context for understanding the country's unique artistic sensibility.
