Interdisciplinary Fine Arts Lecture Series: Squeak Carnwath

Visiting artist lecture series hosted by the Interdisciplinary Fine Arts program and sponsored by the School of Art.

Squeak Carnwath’s artworks have a distinctive and recognizable style, which were described in the publication Art in America as "combin[ing] text and images on abstract fields of color to express sociopolitical and spiritual concerns." Carnwath was born in Abington, Pa. After receiving a Masters of Fine Arts from California College of Arts and Crafts in 1977, she began exhibiting her work in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she continues to live and work. Carnwath taught at the University of California from 1982 to 2010; she is professor emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley.
