Camp Paradox Days
Aug 25—Oct 8 2013
The Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery is pleased to present "Camp Paradox Days." This title, culled from a randomly read phrase in a biography of Nathanael West, parallels the concerns of this eclectic group of painters, sculptors and photographers who deal with found sources, a theatrical questioning of authority and an ironic sense of history (Camp Paradox was an actual boy’s camp located in Paradox, N.Y., in the Adirondacks).
Each of these artists strives for a nostalgic authenticity, a suspension of disbelief and a fracturing of easy perception with a quick knowing wink at Susan Sontag's "Notes on 'Camp.'" Lucas Blalock, Alex Da Corte BFA '04 (Printmaking), Andrew Gbur BFA '07 (Painting/Drawing), Amanda Ross-Ho and Tyler Rowland hunt for snipes and stay up all night cavorting in the bunk house of this project.
Opening Reception: September 19, 5 – 8 p.m.Anderson Hall
