CHER Invades Dick Blick

Blick Art Materials

For the months of July and August, pop-up gallery collective Champions of Empty Rooms (CHER), founded by Veronica Cianfrano MFA '10 (Painting) and Jessica Anne Clark MFA '10 (Painting), has commandeered the fine walls of Dick Blick Art Materials.

Created in conjunction with the University of the Arts, "CHER Invades Dick Blick" includes work from a number of local artists as well as artists from outside the region, including UArts alumni Shawn Beeks MFA '08 (Painting/Drawing), Martha Ferguson MFA '10 (Painting), Mark Havens MID '04 (Industrial Design), Chaltin Pagan MFA '13 (Painting), Nick Ruscetta BFA '97 (Printmaking), and Liberal Arts Adjunct Assistant Professor and Academic Advisor Michele C. Kishita BFA '97 (Painting), MFA '10 (Painting).

This exhibition features a range of contemporary works, from brightly hued abstraction to tongue-in-cheek pop-cultural iconography. While the works are wide ranging in approach and execution, CHER creates cohesion and dialogue through thoughtful curation. These seemingly disparate works share an intangible quality.

Gallery hours: Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
