Art, Play and the Office

President's Office

A collaborative project by MFA Program Director Erin Boyle MFA '05 (Sculpture): Concept and Curator and John Thompson MFA '09 (Painting): Space Coordinator. Collaboration and wall art by MFA in Studio Art candidates, faculty and staff at the University of the Arts.

This is the second of a series of projects dealing with collaboration and play. The purpose of this collaborative project is to see what happens when a group of MFA students, faculty and staff are given a bag of set materials and asked to create an artwork using those materials. Participants have also been asked to use those materials to create a drawing directly on the office wall in the conference room of the President’s Office suite. The exchange of ideas, the playfulness of the material and the endless possibility of combinations bring us back to a place where thinking and contemplating are set aside and anything can happen.

The Rules
Part One: Use materials provided in the bag plus the sheet of paper provided to create a work of art. Participants may add two materials of their choice. This can be anything.

Part Two: Come on July 18 for a drawing marathon. Using provided materials and work together to create a drawing on the President’s Office wall.

Reception: Thursday August 1, 3 – 5 p.m.
