NOTICE OF POSITION VACANCY
FULL-TIME, CALENDAR YEAR POSITION

Position: Assistant to the Director

Department: School of Dance

Reports to: Director, School of Dance

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a full range of professional executive support services and project management support to the Director
  • Manage complex diary arrangements for the Director and exercise initiative to meet and anticipate requirements
  • Apply high level knowledge and excellent judgment in identifying critical issues and priorities in the School of Dance
  • Facilitate the flow of information between the Director, senior academic staff, faculty and students
  • Managing a high volume of phone calls in a busy office, answering questions, solving problems, and disseminating information to both staff, faculty and students
  • Completing special projects promptly and efficiently as assigned
  • Corresponding with leaders in the arts and guest artist
  • Coordinating detailed travel arrangements for guest artists, faculty, students and staff
  • Maintaining and updating extensive files including bills, course schedules, academic advising and course substitutions
  • Providing support in arranging meetings, calendar management, and updating contacts
  • Advise students on course selection
  • Assist faculty with questions regarding the student advising process

To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience as an assistant to management in a multifaceted organization for the arts or dance
  • Well developed analytic and conceptual skills and the ability to bring multiple perspectives to problem solving
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Relevant advanced administrative and/or office/computer experience
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the context of dance education and performance within academia
