2. Are Liberal Arts courses required?
- At The University of the Arts, the Liberal Arts are considered essential to the education of artists, designers and performers. The Liberal Arts division represents a common ground in the curriculum where students from all colleges meet. In addition to the major requirements for earning a bachelor’s degree, all undergraduate students are required to complete approximately one third of their studies in the Liberal Arts.
3. Do you accept Transfer students?
- Transfer students are admitted to The University of the Arts under policies that vary from College to College. The University considers any applicant who has been enrolled in a college-level program of study after secondary school to be a transfer applicant. Transfers enjoy a preferred position among applicants for admission since it can be assumed they have matured in their goals and have demonstrated their abilities at the college level.
4. What is the deadline for submitting an application?
- The University of the Arts is on rolling admission and therefore, has no official application deadline. However, students are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible. Priority deadline for scholarship consideration requires that the application is submitted by March 15 and complete by April 1.

7. Are Standardized Tests (SAT & ACT) required?
- The submission of official standardized test scores is required for admission, although applicants who have completed a college-level English Composition course with a grade of "C" or better, or applicants who have been out of school for more than five years, are not required to submit standardized test scores. The SAT and ACT are the acceptable standardized tests. Candidates for admission from Puerto Rico or Latin America may substitute or augment the SAT or ACT with the Prueba de Aptitud Academica (PAA). The University of the Arts' CEEB code is 2664. The ACT code is 3664.

10. Do you have Scholarships/Grants?
- University Merit Scholarships
University Merit Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence and demonstrated talent. The Presidential, Promising Artist, and Artist Grant are types of University Merit Scholarships. University Merit Scholarships are awarded when students are admitted. Those students who demonstrate exceptional artistic ability and outstanding academic achievement will be considered for a University Merit scholarship.
To assist students and their families with financial planning for their enrollment, scholarship amounts are fixed and automatically renewed so long as the student maintains academic progress.
- Named Scholarships
The University offers a number of scholarships that have been donated by individuals or groups to help support promising artists. These named scholarships are awarded based on need and merit.
- University Grants
University Grants are need-based and are awarded by the Financial Aid Office to supplement all other financial aid assistance. Students must be enrolled for at least 12 credits in order to receive Institutional Aid.
11. Do you have a dormitory?
- The University of the Arts has made a strong commitment to providing a supportive living/learning environment. The University offers four undergraduate residence halls. All are furnished and have bathroom and kitchen facilities in each apartment. Each building has laundry facilities and 24-hour security and maintenance. All residence halls are smoke-free. 12. Do you have a Meal Plan?
- The UArts Cantina is open weekdays for 3 meals a day and does work with a declining balance card. All of our dormitories have full kitchen facilities, so we do not have a meal plan.
13. Do you have Saturday or Summer Programs?
- Click here for information about our Pre-College and Saturday Arts Lab programs. We also offer a wide variety of Continuing Studies courses.
14. Do you accept the International Baccalaureate?
- The University of the Arts recognizes the International Baccalaureate (IB) and awards 6 credits toward its humanities requirements for a score of 4 or better in an HL (High Level) IB examination and 3 credits for a score of 4 or better in an SL (Subsidiary Level) IB examination. Credit is not awarded for Studio Art.
15. Do you accept Advanced Placement credits?
- The University of the Arts may award three credits toward the Liberal Arts requirements for a score of 4 or better in any CEEB Advanced Placement Examination in an academic subject. An official report of scores must be submitted to The University of the Arts directly from The College Board, Advanced Placement Program, Princeton, NJ. AP credit is not given for studio art, music theory, or performance. Students are notified of AP credits awarded prior to registration.
