Emily Metro

Title / Job Description: Financial Aid Counselor

Relationship to the Arts: I graduated with a Bachelor in Arts, focus in ceramics. Most of my work is built around mold making and slip casting because it allows me to construct exact copies of objects. Clay is my primary medium, although I often incorporate mixed media. I am now taking ceramics at UArts and striving to produce pieces that incorporate both sculpture and function.

Hobbies / Interests: Ceramics, riding my Motobecane classy blue bike, hanging out with my cat Jumpers and friends, crafts (i.e. knitting, embroidery, sewing buttons on every shirt I purchase because corporate craft sucks), cook-outs, eating Mexican food, reading, thrifty shopping, and laughing as much as possible.

Education / Background: I graduated from Indiana University of PA, have 2 years experience working in art related Universities with financial aid, and 26 years experience of being awesome (there's always room for improvement).

Additional Information: 1 of my best summer experiences: My birthday is in June. When I was younger I never got to celebrate my birthday in school and get an awesome birthday cupcake or cookie. My 12th birthday landed on the first day of summer vacation due to extra snow days that year. I, therefore, got my birthday Hostess cupcake at school and when I came home my aunt was waiting for me with a BOX of birthday toys. The presents included: a long-haired, blonde wig (my mom loved to cut my hair short and I always wore night gowns around my head), a gigantic bouncy ball that I used to bounce off of my sisters head, plastic high-heeled shoes that were bedazzled, a hoolah hoop with glitter tassels, and she drove me to the Carnegie Museum!  Best day ever!
