International candidates for admission to a graduate program whose #rst language is not English must present an of#cial TOEFL score of 550 or above for paper based, 213 for computer based, 80 for internet based.

In lieu of TOEFL scores, the University will accept as proof of competency in English the successful completion of Level 9 in the University's intensive English language program, the University of the Arts ESL Institute.  More information about the UArts ESL Institute is available here.

The MFA Summer Low Residence Programs in Ceramics, Painting and Sculpture do not meet the United States Customs and Immigration Service’s requirements for the F1 student visa. Therefore, only US citizens and permanent residents of the United States are eligible to participate in these programs.

Transcripts/Mark/Grade Sheets
All applicants must provide a complete, notarized transcript from every school attended on the postsecondary level. Each transcript must be translated into English by a certi#ed translator and the translation must be notarized.

International applicants to the graduate programs are also required to submit a Document-by-Document report from World Education Services (WES). It is the applicant's responsibility to contract with WES directly for this service. Instruction and application can be obtained directly from:

Certification of Finances
The University requires that you submit proof of sufficient available funds to cover all of your educational and personal expenses while studying at The University of the Arts. This will be referred to as your Certification of Finances. A Certification of Finances form will be sent to you upon receipt of your application.

This form must be completed in English and notarized by your bank official.

This statement must declare the availability of funds of at least U.S. $45,000, to cover the costs of each year of education and personal expenses. The I-20 form cannot be issued without a valid Certification of Finances.
