Tuition is charged and billed to all full-time students on a semester basis. The tuition charge is determined by your current registration status. If your status changes after registration, your tuition charge will be adjusted accordingly.

Tuition is charged at the flat semester rate for undergraduates who are taking between 12 and 18 credits per semester, and for graduate students who take between 9 and 18 credits. If you take less than the minimum credits for undergraduates or graduate students, you are charged at the per-credit hour rate. If you take more than 18 credits, you are charged the flat semester rate, plus the per-credit hour rate for each credit over 18. Tuition statements are mailed early in July for the Fall semester and mid-November for the Spring semester.

Technology Fee
The annual base Technology Fee ($300) funds a full range of services that includes hard-wired and wireless dorms, smart classrooms, online resources, the University's course management system, Portal access, Email, online storage space, on-campus tech support, high-end lab technology, and access to the Anytime, Anywhere Creativity software package for students who have a comparable Macbook or Macbook Pro.

The higher fee charged to participants in the Anytime Anywhere Creativity Program covers the additional cost of the MacBook Pro, all of its software and future software upgrades, insurance, Applecare, replacement hardware (provided when the student's computer is being diagnosed or repaired), a case, and a removable Fire Wire hard drive.

Housing Security Deposit
The housing security deposit is charged to all resident students once a year. A room inspection is made before the student moves in and when the student moves out, and a refund of the deposit, less damages if applicable, is issued approximately six weeks after the end of the semester.

Interest-Free Monthly Payment Plan
If you would like to pay your education expenses monthly, use the Interest-Free Monthly Payment Option offered by our partner, Tuition Management Systems. The payment option is available for a small enrollment fee and includes personal account service and counseling, automated account information 24 hours a day, access to your account through their web site, http://www.afford.com/, and even gives you a chance to win one of eight annual $1,000 Tuition Management Systems Scholarships. Visit the Tuition Management Systems web site for more information on payment options, free education payment counseling and the many ways they can help you afford education.

Overpayment Refunds
Refunds will be processed to only those students who have a credit balance. All refunds will be made payable to the student unless a parent borrowed funds through the PLUS program. Refunds will be issued to the PLUS loan borrower, if the PLUS loan exceeds 50% of tuition charges. Refunds will be processed approximately 14 days after classes begin. All refunds will be available in the Student Billing Office for pick up for only one week, after which the refund check will be mailed to the student's billing address.

Withdrawal Refunds
If a student officially withdraws from the University, tuition will be refunded according to the refund policy published in the current catalog. Please note that withdrawing prior to the end of a semester could result in the loss of financial aid for that semester, and also could result in the student's owing the University rather than receiving a refund. If you plan to leave the University, you must request either a leave of absence or an official withdrawal in writing from the Registrar's office.

Bad Check Fee
Student accounts paid by a check with insufficient funds will be assessed a bad check fee of $25.00. A flag will be placed on the student's account record for a period of one year. Payment with a personal check will not be permitted. At the end of the year the student may appeal to the Director of Student Billing to review his/her payment history.

Late Payment
A late payment fee of $60.00 will be charged to any student failing to pay his or her tuition and/or housing by the billing due date.

Late Registration
A late registration fee of $35.00 will be charged to any student registering after the deadline dates listed in the current Academic Calendar.

Application Fee
An application fee of $60.00 is required with every application for admission or readmission.

Tuition Deposit
Once a student has been accepted for admission to the University, a $300.00 tuition deposit is required to reserve a place in the class. This deposit is credited to the student account, and is not refundable after May 1st.

Housing Fees
A housing reservation deposit is required to reserve a space in University housing. Students are not permitted to move into the residence halls until all tuition and fees are paid in full. A housing damage deposit is required of all student's account, and is not refundable. The deposit is held in escrow and will be refunded to the student after the apartment is vacated. Any damages to the apartment will be deducted from this deposit.

Tuition Payment and Financial Responsibility
Payment in full for each semester is required before students may attend classes. Students who have not made arrangements to pay their tuition, fees, and housing fees to the University before the first day of classes each semester are subject to having their registration cancelled for that semester. A cancelled registration can only be reinstated with the approval of the Student Billing Office. The student is subject to both a late payment fee of $60.00 and a late registration fee of $35.00. Settlement of all financial obligations to the University rests with the student, or the student's parents if the student has not attained adult status. Failure to receive a tuition statement does not excuse a student from paying tuition and fees before attending classes each semester. Student accounts are considered settled when the student receives Billing Office Clearance (BOA) and a validated ID card or a Class Admit Card for that semester.
