What is UArts' Liberal Arts Program?
The Liberal Arts program is your chosen discipline’s right of passage. Faculty guide you through an interactive investigation into international, historical, cultural, archeological, and religious issues. By graduation, your perspective—and your work—will be well beyond your years.

How will Liberal Arts prepare me for professional practice?
The Liberal Arts prepare you to do meaningful, original work, improve society, and move your creative discipline forward. Through study in the Liberal Arts, you will:
• Develop your own insights
• Front and debate universal ideas
• Master the history of your art form
• Strengthen abilities in critical analysis, metaphorical thinking and clear communication

Who takes Liberal Arts classes?
All undergraduate students take Liberal Arts classes.

How much of my education will be in Liberal Arts?
Approximately one-third of your studies will be in the Liberal Arts.

Will students from other colleges be in my Liberal Arts classes?
Yes. Students across the University collaborate in Liberal Arts classes.

What’s the curriculum like?
• All UArts students take at least 42 credits (14 courses) in Liberal Arts
• Freshman/sophomore core: You’ll enhance your intellectual and expressive skills
• Three courses related to the history or theory of your major
• Upper courses: Two Period Interpretation courses challenge you to approach periods in cultural history from diverse perspectives
• Electives: You can take classes of your choice in the humanities, literature, the social sciences, or the natural sciences
