“The Peer Mentors were extremely supportive and very easy to talk to. They become your friends. They are in the same boat as you, students at UArts.”
ABOUT
All first-year AAP students are matched with a Peer Mentor. Peer Mentors are continuing AAP students who are selected through a competitive application process. Peer Mentors serve as orientation leaders during the AAP Connect Program and stay in touch with each student in their group throughout their first year. They coordinate group social activities, connect new students to the UArts community, and host the Free Wednesday lunches.

I am very excited to be a part of the 2008 Connect Program as a Peer Mentor for the second time and to be a part of your college experience as you enter a new chapter in your lives. I’ve been a part of AAP since my freshman year and as I begin this school year as a senior, I am able to look back on how much the Program has helped me. Through the Academic Achievement Program I have met new people and built strong friendships, worked as a tutor to help others reach their goals, and participated in great professional and social opportunities. I just want to welcome you all to AAP and UArts. I am here to be a help to you in any way possible.
Nelson Miranda
Jazz Studies/Trumpet major, ‘10
mirandan@uarts.edu
I attended the Connect Program as a freshman two years ago, and I am really excited to be a part of Connect for the third time as a Peer Mentor for 2008-2009. I am a music major at UArts, specializing in jazz trumpet. I love friendships, entertaining, and salsa dancing, but I also work very hard to achieve success in my passion. I am a very laid-back and approachable person, so do not hesitate to send me an e-mail or talk to me. I get along with anyone and everyone...and I better see you all at Connect 2008 this August!
Stephanie Stoner
Industrial Design major, ‘09
stoners@uarts.edu
I am very people oriented! Any student can come to me with any question knowing that I will help them as best as I can. I can help with classes, mediate a dispute, or just be there if a student has a question or problem. At UArts, I have worked as an office assistant in the AAP, a Peer Tutor, and I have been an AAP Peer Mentor for the past two years. I am looking forward to another great year as an AAP Peer Mentor!

Lendl Tellington
Communications major, '11

Lendl attended Connect last year in 2007, and has been an active AAP member since. [Bio soon to come!]
