Bring your training to UArts this summer for an exciting and challenging experience - to improve your level of technique and explore realms of dance that will take you to the next level. Our rigorous curriculum is designed for those who have a clear focus on expanding their skills within a range of dance genres.
Add an extra week to your program with our workshop in Dance Music Video available as a one week intensives.
Daily Technique Classes
- Composition + Improvisation
- Hip Hop
- Digital Media
You will also have the opportunity to get involved with repertory projects as well as to collaborate with students in the Summer Institute Music program.
- Artist talks
- Museum trips and professional performances
- Free space - time for student choreography/student shows
- Freedom for students to register for elective classes based on interest
The three weeks culminate in a repertory performance on a professional stage where you are challenged to improve skills in technique, improvisation, composition and performance, while sharing your work with your peers, friends and family.
You will leave not only with tremendous physical development but also the tools to investigate your path as a young artist. You will vastly increase your knowledge of dance history, critical studies in dance and professional options, as well as improve your improvisational and choreographic skills. Walk away with a community of peers, ideas of what your undergraduate career may look like, connections with nationally renowned dance teachers/choreographers and three college credits. You will also receive documentation of the performance, which may be used for college admissions.
