What makes UArts Certificate in Instrumental Performance program special?
The two-year Certificate in Instrumental Performance program will help you develop discipline and focus via weekly, one-hour private lessons in your major area with a renowned artist-teachers. It consists of the musical studies normally taken during the first two years of the Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Performance program -  no liberal arts courses are required.

What performance opportunities are available?
Perform in the School of Music's award-winning jazz ensembles, in a range of musical literatures: from Big Band to Latin Jazz, the music of Charles Mingus to Steely Dan, hand bell choir to vocal jazz, and bebop to bucket drums. Collaborate with the School of Dance to perform with live performers.

How will I be prepared for professional performance?
Many of our students begin to perform professionally before graduating. Philadelphia offers numerous venues for soloists and small ensembles in concert halls and clubs. 

Are faculty professional musicians?
Yes. The School of Music faculty is made up of experienced and practicing professionals, many of whom have attained international stature as performing and recording artists. This professional faculty is supplemented by an impressive roster of guest artists along with a regular series of workshops, master classes, and performances guests.
