What makes UArts Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance special?
UArts four-year Vocal Performance program provides strong training in traditional vocal technique. Our Vocal Performance degree program combines skills and knowledge in a range of vocal styles and literature, including jazz and contemporary, classical and musical theater. The BM in Vocal Performance program will help you develop discipline and focus through weekly, one-hour private instruction in voice with renowned artist-teachers. Vocal Performance majors will also receive a thorough Liberal Arts education.

What performance opportunities are available to Vocal Performance majors?
While studying for your degree in Vocal Performance at The University of the Arts you can select ensembles that accurately reflect your interests, including jazz vocal ensembles, chorus and chamber singers, vocal workshops, and an ongoing series of master classes. Perform with live performers through collaboration with the School of Dance or study with ProJazz in Santiago, Chile or The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts in the U.K.

How will I be prepared for a professional singing career?
Many Vocal Performance degree candidates begin to sing professionally before graduating. Philadelphia offers numerous venues for soloists and small ensembles in concert halls and clubs. 

Are the School of Music faculty professional musicians?

Yes. The faculty is made up of experienced and practicing professionals, many of whom have attained international stature as performing and recording artists. This professional faculty is supplemented by a roster of guest artists along with a regular series of workshops, master classes, and performance guests that has included:  

UArts also offers a four-year Diploma in Vocal Performance and a two-year Certificate in Vocal Performance for students who wish to study Vocal Performance and have a degree in a field other than music.
