We are pleased and proud to announce that The University of the Arts High School Grammy Jazz Band is currently accepting student applications for its 2008 ensemble.  Following the successes of recent years, this year's big band promises to be another group of excellent young musicians presenting very exciting performances!

The 2008 band is open to currently-enrolled high school students residing anywhere in the Pennsylvania, Delaware, or southern New Jersey (from the southern border, north to the Princeton area). Applicants should be proficient in jazz performance as well as sight-reading and improvisation, and should be in good academic standing and reliable (i.e. attendance and punctuality). Rehearsals will take place at The University of the Arts. 

If you are interested, or have students who would be interested whom you'd like to recommend for this select jazz ensemble, please review the audition requirements and the application form. Students must complete the application and submit that along with a DVD or videotape of their playing, and a letter of recommendation from their high school jazz band director or private music teacher to Professort Matt Gallagher (mailing info below). Students selected for the ensemble will be notified by email.

Please refer to the attached rehearsal schedule for dates and times.  All students accepted into the band must attend all scheduled rehearsals and performances.

Students selected for the Philadelphia Grammy band will be automatically entered into the final round of the 2008 National Grammy Jazz Ensemble in Los Angeles California.  For more information about that ensemble, click this link: National Grammy Band.
