BFA in Dance Education

UArts Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Education degree program is designed for students wish to enter the profession as teachers of dance.

What’s the Dance Education program like?
The four-year Dance Education degree program at UArts includes both education in dance technique and the skills you will need to be a successful dance teacher. Students interested in a degree in Dance Education first complete the Dance Core and pass the juried Upper-Divisional Exam before declaring their dance education major. As you advance in your training, you will focus on technique in one major and one non-major area, culminating in a student-teaching internship. In addition to the general Liberal Arts program, psychology courses will complement your dance studies.

Are faculty members professional dancers?
Yes. The Dance faculty combines outstanding experience with careful attention to the art of teaching dance. Here you will train with professionals who are experienced with the world of dance and its demands. They come from all over the dance map:

[Enjoy] the process of learning to dance. The process of our profession, and not its final achievement, is the heart and soul of dance.”
