Low-Residency MFA

    print version
The University of the Arts offers three low-residency Master's of Fine Art degrees: MFA Ceramics, MFA Painting and MFA Sculpture. These MFA low-residency programs are studio-based, and provide the conceptual, critical, historical and practical knowledge needed to sustain a successful contemporary studio practice.

In addition to exploration in the major, students pursue interdisciplinary investigations in studio topics common to each discipline and address contemporary critical issues and methodology in University graduate seminars.

How long do the programs take to complete?
The programs can be completed in two and a half years (three Summer/Fall terms, two Spring terms).

Are the programs flexible?
As low-residency programs, they are designed specifically to accommodate students' employment schedules and to meet the distance-learning requirements of those living beyond the Philadelphia region.

Who are the programs designed for?
Artists with BFA or BA degrees seeking to be challenged in their graduate studies to accelerate their studio work, writing and understanding of contemporary art.
