Master of Industrial Design - Overview
UArts Master of Industrial Design – a design laboratory for modeling change
The MID program at UArts is committed to a post-disciplinary mode of study that manages input from a variety of disciplines and experts, to develop new, forward thinking, sustainable approaches to business development and design solutions. We consider design thinking the new management tool, instrumental in developing strategic creativity, that is then further evolved through human networks and a cultural and civic point-of-view.

What is the approach of the program?
The aim of UArts MID program is to transform the human experience with life, with work, and with the environment through a process of integrated thinking, research, and collaboration.

What careers do MID graduates pursue?
It is our goal to prepare graduates for the changing world of design and to help them assume their role as the next generation of design thinkers and innovators. Our graduates are well prepared to work in U.S. and global organizations, including: design consultancies, manufacturing companies, non-profit organizations, business consultancies, and as entrepreneurs themselves.

Are UArts MID faculty professional designers?
Like the program itself, our faculty represents a wide range of approaches to the practice of design. Students will have access to currently practicing design professionals, with backgrounds in fields ranging from architecture, information design and mapping, cultural anthropology, business, and psychology, to industrial systems and environmental design.
