What is Illustration?
Illustration is communication through image-making. Illustrators are artists who work in various media to give form to visual ideas, stories and information. Illustrations are the distinctive, creative images found in magazines, children’s books, graphic novels and newspapers, on book and CD covers, in film, computer games and advertisements, and on websites, television and more.
What is the Illustration Program’s goal?Students studying for a degree in illustration at UArts develop a personal interpretive language that gives dynamic visual substance to their ideas. As visual communication, emphasis is on developing a fresh, coherent and professional approach to creative exploration, problem solving, and image-making that can address the needs of a multi-faceted, tremendously diverse and ever-changing marketplace.
