What do Industrial Designers do?
Industrial Designers envision and design better products and services - like Philly Car Share.  An Industrial Designer is the bridge between product users, industries, the general public and issues at large. Their work can be seen in almost everything from furniture and equipment to house-wares. The monitor you’re reading this from was designed by an Industrial Designer.

What makes UArts Industrial Design program special?
The four-year program is project-based, process-driven, and collaborative. The program stresses a design process that is rigorously analytical, speculative, and creative. You will be encouraged to engage and explore the communities you address through your work. For example, ID students are developing a line of furniture for Habitat for Humanity's breakthrough LEED-certified model home - it's ecologically sustainable.

How will I be prepared for a career in Industrial Design?
You’ll prepare your industrial design portfolio, gather information about working as a professional industrial designer, and develop the entrepreneurial skills needed to excel in a competitive and complex business environment. An optional internship class is available.

What careers are available to UArts Industrial Design majors?
Alumni have gone on to work at both small and large design firms and consultancies ranging in focus from product design, exhibition design to research and strategy. A solid design process can be used in many places, and our graduates are prepared to integrate themselves into many realms.  Companies like IDEO, Kohler, Walt Disney and Karam Rashid have hired UArts Industrial Design graduates.
