Industrial Design at UArts
What is Industrial Design?
Industrial Design focuses on the "built environment"- the objects, systems and spaces that shape daily living. The practice largely determines the style, perception, function and use of things and services in contemporary life. UArts ID grads design everything from guitar cases to fashionable jackets made from bamboo fiber.  It is as much a process as it is a product.

Industrial Designers Transform Society
Industrial Design is an optimistic endeavor, which works towards a general sense of well-being through the creation of informed social, environmental, cultural and business practices. The program challenges you to be aware of the implications of your work and works toward creating appropriate responses. Issues brought up in discussion and in your research include sustainable ways to produce products—or if they should exist at all. We also debate questions of ethics, aesthetics, and audiences.

Leave no trace: UArts Industrial Design sophomores designed tents from biodegradable materials. After camping out to test the durability of their designs, the students left their tents behind to break down.
