What is the philosophy behind the MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking program?
The master's degree in Book Arts/Printmaking is an interdisciplinary program that focuses on the book as a point of departure for art-making and personal expression. The program's concept of book arts includes:
What are the qualifications to enter the program?
You must have an undergraduate degree in printmaking, fine art, design, photography, digital media or the liberal arts. Admission requires a visual arts portfolio.
What does the program include?
The core program of bookbinding, lithography and letterpress courses is augmented by investigations into studio-arts, colloquia and seminars on art and the book.
How will I be prepared for a career?
By the conclusion of the MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking program, you will have developed the conceptual and technical skills necessary to teach, print, design, publish, or curate. Graduates with a master's degree in book arts/printmaking also work in the fields of book and paper conservation, or open an independent studio or business.
How much interaction is there with faculty?
Students work with an extraordinary resident faculty and discuss their work one-on-one with prominent visiting artists and critics.
