Electronic Media at UArts
Over 25 years ago, the Electronic Media Department introduced computer education to The University of the Arts. Since then, it has pioneered the development of digital courses in the
College of Art and Design and has taught students from UArts
College of Media and Communication and the
College of Performing Arts.
What is electronic media?Electronic media describes a variety of digital technologies, including:
• Creative computer technologies
• Web based creative potentials
• Video and audio editing programs
What does the department do?
Electronic Media’s primary function is to continue to introduce digital creativity to areas in the University that are not as yet fully engaged in these contemporary processes.
• Promote digital creativity
• Encourage a student’s forward looking understanding of future media such as cell phone video and expressive web based experience.

Digital Fine Arts Concentration: Focus on digital technologies as they can be applied toward expressive ends and extend traditional media.
How will Electronic Media courses enhance my major?
Advances in digital technologies have established the computer as an essential tool for creative work. An understanding and engagement of digital technology provides you with more options in major studies as well as opportunities in your future profession.
Who can take these courses?
All students at The University of the Arts, regardless of their major, can take courses in Electronic Media.
