AmeriCorps Scholars in Service to Pennsylvania Program

SISPA

The AmeriCorps Scholars in Service to Pennsylvania (SISPA) program is administered through our partnership with PHENND (Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development). This program enables us to offer a select group of community service-minded UArts students the opportunity to earn an education award for their volunteerism.

Each student will be matched with one of our non-profit partners, including BuildaBridge, ArtSphere Inc., Village of Arts & Humanities, Spiral Q Puppet Theater, the Studio at Beacon and William Way LGBT Community Center.

The program spans one year, starting in late August, and students can schedule service hours around their curriculum, about eight to 12 per week. Upon the successful completion of 300 hours of community service, each student will receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education award of almost $1,200 that can be put towards tuition or qualifying student loans.
