Update: WHYY-UArts partnership still rumbling
WHYY has posted video of UArts’ bucket drum ensemble Rumble to its Web site. Shot during rehearsals of Monostereo, the collaboration between the Schools of Music and Dance, the piece focuses on Rumble - proving the bucket is absolutely an instrument.

The video is also airing on television between WHYY’s regular programming many times each day. Check it out at: www.whyy.org/artsandculture.

See Rumble (this year’s ensemble includes six dancers, a singer, two pianists, a bass major and 13 drummers) perform live at the opening performance of WHYY’s 50th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, September 29. The event is open to the public and free for members of WHYY. Learn more at: www.whyy.org/tv12/12at50.html.

How did the partnership happen?
Entrepreneurial College of Media and Communication (CMAC) students Justin Rauschkolb (Multimedia ‘05) and Joey Raicovich (Communication ‘06) approached WHYY-TV’s Paul Glick with the idea for the TV station to broadcast work from the University.

After Glick gave them the go-ahead, Justin and Joey worked to solicit the featured work from CMAC’s three departments as well as across the University. They also developed the bumper and credit treatments for the work. Chris Garvin, Director of Multimedia, supervised the project.
The students compiled five UArts Student Showcases featuring 17 videos from across the University. WHYY broadcasted the student work from July 2006 until March 2007.
