Laser Cutter
About the Laser CutterThe Anderson Imaging Lab is now equipped with a Universal Systems VLS6.60 Laser Cutter. The VLS6.60 is the largest Laser Cutter in the VLS platform line, and has a wide and deep engraving area that can accommodate a variety of materials. The material processing platform of 32” x 18” x 9” makes the VLS6.60 a versatile machine for all of your laser engraving needs.

What can the Laser Cutter do? Laser Cutting
- The laser beam follows a vector path and cuts completely through material along the designated path, creating polished, high quality edges.
Laser Engraving
- The laser beam follows a vector path and cuts slightly into the surface of the material along the designated path. It can be used to create text, graphics, or even texture on the surface of a material.
Laser Rastering and Graphic Imaging
- The laser beam vaporizes material to a user-controlled depth, creating a flat surface with a high quality finish. Laser Rastering and Graphic Imaging engraves a pixelated image onto the surface of the material using variable intensity. This allows a grayscaled image to be created, where 100% black translates to 100% laser intensity with a deeper engraving, and 0% black translates to 0% intensity with a more shallow engraving.
