ILLUSTRATION FULL-TIME FACULTY POSITION
THE UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS (UARTS), PHILADELPHIA, PA

POSITION: Assistant or Associate Professor, effective September 1, 2012; rank and salary commensurate with applicant's experience and qualifications.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The University's College of Art, Media and Design (CAMD) is seeking an illustrator and educator with a record of excellence in the field. Candidates should possess an outstanding ability to convey both technical and conceptual components to their students. They should have a good working knowledge of the business topics relating to illustration, and be able to instruct students on the past, current, and emerging state of the industry. Candidates should be able to develop syllabi for new courses and contribute ideas for the evolving nature of existing courses. They should be able to effectively critique in individual and group settings and be able to lecture engagingly.

REQUIREMENTS
The college is seeking candidates with a MFA degree or a BFA degree coupled with extensive professional experience. Additionally, they should have college level teaching experience, an outstanding teaching ability, several years of professional illustration experience, a demonstrated record of excellence within the industry, knowledge of and experience with the development of illustrative concepts, and an in-depth knowledge of the history and current state of illustration both on it's own and as it relates to graphic design and fine art.

The Illustration program will be a cross-college program in the new CAMD structures, effective Fall 2012, linking in the first instance to the fine art programs in the School of Art, graphic design in the School of Design and animation in the School of Film. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an ability to contribute to the building and enhancing of one or more of these links.

Beyond a commitment to teaching, all faculty in CAMD are expected to contribute to the life of the university, including committee work, student advising, and to a continued public engagement as artists and designers.
